A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced after a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The single features a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
