Fans Demand Custody of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are calling for that a individual who breached a fence and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another response on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was touched by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be launched on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual version of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected friendship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned 10 Oscar nominations, earning two for best costume and artistic direction.
