Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
