Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Finn, who appeared in popular programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per media reports.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives said in a announcement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He also had a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
