Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay has the ability to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their main hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a version of that character reinterpreted as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the original manga and animated series.

Escola will work alongside a number of recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to life, featuring chief Mr. 0, brought to life by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and a familiar face, who also joins the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.

Although the role is a important part of the organization, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could signal additional alterations to the plot development.

Their mix of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. Along with their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
