Details of the Strike and Strategic Impact
The targeted facility, the Novoshakhtinsk oil plant, was said to be hit, with "numerous explosions" observed at the site. This represents not the first instance where Ukraine has utilized these advanced British-supplied missiles against objectives inside Russian soil.
Ukrainian officials noted that the Novoshakhtinsk plant serves as one of the main suppliers of fuel products in Russia's south and is actively engaged in supplying the military of the Russian Federation.
Political Discussions on the Conflict
Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Thursday that he held productive talks with representatives of ex-President Donald Trump, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The conversation centered on potential pathways to end the war.
“We had a very productive conversation: numerous specifics, constructive proposals, that we discussed,” Zelenskyy wrote on a messaging platform. “There are some fresh concepts on how to move toward real peace closer, and it involves formats, meetings, and, certainly, the schedule.”

In a parallel domestic matter, a court in Russia has convicted a pro-war activist and opponent of Vladimir Putin on charges of justifying terrorism. Sergei Udaltsov, head of the Left Front movement, was given to six years in a penal colony.
This case are said to be based on an online post Udaltsov published backing another group of activists charged with forming a terrorist organisation. Udaltsov has denied the allegations as fabricated and, following the verdict, reportedly announced to go on a hunger strike in defiance.

The Kremlin has stated it is engaged with French officials concerning the fate of Laurent Vinatier, a French political scholar currently serving a prison term in Russia and allegedly facing additional accusations of espionage.
An official stated that Russia has made an offer to France regarding Vinatier, and now “it is in France’s court.” President Emmanuel Macron’s office stated he is closely following the situation, with all government services working to offer assistance and advocate for his liberation at the earliest opportunity.
